I really believe that we need a nationwide movement to bring new ideas to education, and to revamp it to work for the students and their parents - the true stakeholders of the educational process. The idea that a child's success depends so much on where they are born is deeply concerning.
Education has become too politicized, and too concerned with easily measurable metrics like graduation rates and test scores - when I believe it should be about equipping children to be successful adults and members in their communities.
